The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has moved the Delhi High Court challenging the acquittal of Aam Aadmi Party national convener Arvind Kejriwal, party leader Manish Sisodia and others in the corruption case related to the Delhi liquor policy case.
The move comes hours after the trial court passed the order.
On Friuday the 27th of February a trial court in Delhi had acquitted all 23 accused persons in the case, including Arvind Kejriwal, Manish Sisodia and K Kavitha.
Those acquitted included AAP senior leader Durgesh Pathak, who manages political affairs regarding Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD), an area considered a party stronghold.
The CBI has said that the trial court’s order has ignored several important aspects of the investigation and that the material has not been adequately considered.
The excise policy was framed by the Delhi Government in 2021, which was later withdrawn after allegations of irregularities in implementation.
It may be recalled that Delhi’s Lieutenant-Governor Vinay Kumar Saxena had ordered a probe by the Central Bureau of Investigation into the policy.
