In a strongly worded statement issued by Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) India has “categorically rejected” claims made by the interim Government of Bangladesh of allegedly interfering in their internal affairs.
In a release issued by the MEA on Sunday the 14th of December 2025 stated, “India categorically rejects the assertions made by the interim Government of Bangladesh in its press note dated 14 December 2025.
The MEA statement came-in soon after Bangladesh Foreign Ministry HQ in Dhaka summoned the Indian High Commissioner to protest against the statements made by former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, accusing her of allegedly inciting violence in Bangladesh from abroad.
Ex-Prime Minister of Bangladesh Sheikh Hasina now lives in exile in New Delhi.
The MEA statement stated – “We have consistently reiterated our position in favour of free, fair, inclusive and credible elections being held in Bangladesh in a peaceful atmosphere.”
“India has never allowed its territory to be used for activities inimical to the interests of the friendly people of Bangladesh,” the statement said.
“We (India) expect that the interim Government of Bangladesh will take all necessary measures for ensuring internal law and order, including for the purpose of holding peaceful elections,” the MEA release added.
Bangladesh has been demanding India to extradite Sheikh Hasina.
