Allaying any fears of harm to India’s agricultural and dairy products as a fallout of the India-US trade deal, Commerce Minister Piyush Goyal made an emphatic statement that the ‘US deal poses no harm to the Indian farmer.’

Addressing a specially convened presser on Tuesday evening the 3rd of February 2026, Goyal said finer details of the trade deal are being put in place by technical teams from both the countries and same will be available for everyone.

The Union Commerce Minister made strong case that interests of the agriculture and dairy producers have been fully safeguarded in the deal, and that their protection was a top priority for the Indian negotiating team.

Piyush Goyal said interests of these sectors were never compromised.

According to the minister, the personal friendship and close ties between the Prime Minister Modi and President Trump played a key role in sealing the deal.

“The Prime Minister is constantly concerned about our farmers, those associated with animal husbandry, and the dairy sector. He has never allowed their interests to be compromised… In this US trade deal, the sensitive sectors of agriculture and dairy have been protected,” Goyal said.
