As the national capital woke-up to a foggy morning on 18th of December 2025, a very strict ban on entry of non-Delhi private vehicles below BS-VI standards came into force.

Also the enforcement of the ‘No PUC, No Fuel’ rule became effective from Thursday onwards as authorities stepped up administrative measures to deal with worsening air pollution.

All petrol pumps in Delhi have been asked not to give fuel to anyone whose vehicle is without a valid PUC (pollution under control) certificates.

Delhi traffic police teams were seen deployed at all entry points carrying their latest automatic number plate reader cameras.

New gadgets with voice alerts at petrol pumps have also been installed to help support the police squads.

A news published on the PTI’s website stated that around 580 police personnel have been deployed at 126 checkpoints, including borders in the capital.

Additionally, enforcement teams of the Transport Department have been deputed at petrol pumps and border points for effective implementation, they added.

The entry ban on non-compliant BS-VI vehicles, however, does not apply to vehicles running on CNG or electric power, public transport, vehicles carrying essential commodities or providing essential services.

Vehicles carrying construction materials are also not permitted to enter the city under the GRAP IV restrictions.
