In landmark results in state elections Mamta Banerjee and M K Stalin not only lost their own seats but their parties, the Trinamool Congress and DMK, lost the verdict.

Congress swept back into power in Kerala while the BJP pulled-off a spectacular win in West Bengal.

In Assam and in Puducherry, the BJP returned with increased victory margins.

In a historic debut the Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK) chief Vijay has secured a landslide victory in the   Tamil Nadu.

As per the last trends, the TVK is leading in 107 seats out of 234 in Tamil Nadu assembly, signalling a major shift in the state’s political landscape.

Although still short of the halfway mark of 118 seats, Vijay is likely to get support from smaller parties of both Dravidian alliances.
