The treacherous mountain roads took lives of 10 Indian Army soldiers in Doda district in Jammu and Kashmir when their Casper vehicle fell into a 300 ft deep gorge while on a routine operational duty.
The Accident took place on Thursday the 22nd of January.
According to sources Army’s Casper vehicle fell into a gorge due to slippery road conditions near the Khannitop on the Bhaderwah-Chamba road when a team was heading for an operation.
Apart from the casualties, 10 other soldiers were also injured and are reported to be recovering at the command hospital at Udhampur.
Meanwhile, Jammu-based White Knight Corps posted on X, “in an unfortunate incident, an Army vehicle carrying troops for an operation, slipped off the road while navigating treacherous terrain in bad weather, in the general area of Doda.”
“There are multiple casualties, including fatal. The injured have been evacuated for further treatment,” it further posted.
Jammu and Kashmir Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha, wrote on X ‘Deeply saddened at the loss of lives of 10 of our brave Indian Army soldiers in an unfortunate road accident in Doda. We will always remember the outstanding service and supreme sacrifice of our brave soldiers. My deepest condolences to the grieving families.”
“In this moment of profound sorrow, the entire nation stands united with the bereaved families in solidarity and support. Ten injured soldiers have been airlifted to the hospital. Directed the senior officials to ensure best possible treatment. Praying for their speedy recovery,” he further posted.
Union Minister Dr Jitendra Singh expressed on X, “Spoke to DC Doda, Harvinder Singh. Deeply shocked to learn about the tragic accident of an Army vehicle on Bhaderwah-Chamba road, in which 10 Jawans lost their life and another 10 were seriously injured, who have been shifted to Command Hospital Udhampur.”
