The Union Home Minister Amit Shah has declared that entire country and in particular Bastar region in Chhattisgarh, is now free from Naxalism or extreme left-wing organised violent activity.
The home minister was visiting the Bastar region on Monday the 18th of May 2026 to meet and interact with the families of martyrs, personnel of Central Armed Police Forces (CAPFs), and victims of Naxal violence in Jagdalpur, Chhattisgarh.
Speaking on the occasion Amit Shah said that ‘today he can proudly say that India has now become free from Naxalism while adding that its has been six decades of bloodshed and suffering that has now finally ended’.
He expressed happiness that a goal which once seemed impossible within a lifetime had been achieved by the brave security forces within just three to four years.
